SSC SI in Delhi Police & CAPF Recruitment 2026: 1871 Vacancies, Apply Online from 10 September

The Staff Selection Commission has released the official notification for the Sub-Inspector in Delhi Police and Central Armed Police Forces Examination, 2026. The notice (E/37/2026-C-2) was uploaded on the Commission’s website on 10.09.2026, and the online application window opens the same day.IBPS

A total of 1,871 vacancies have been announced across Delhi Police, five CAPFs (BSF, CRPF, CISF, ITBP, SSB) and the Sub-Inspector (Fire) cadre in CISF. All posts carry Pay Level-6 (Rs.35,400 – Rs.1,12,400).

Educational Qualification (as on closing date, i.e. 30.09.2026)

SI in Delhi Police and SI (GD) in CAPFs: Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university or equivalent. Final-year candidates may apply, but must possess the qualification on or before 30.09.2026.

SI (Fire) in CISF: Bachelor’s degree in Science with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics; OR Matriculation plus a three-year diploma in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Automobile, Chemical, Mining, Aeronautical or Telecommunication Engineering. B.Tech/M.Tech in relevant fields is allowed as value addition provided the basic diploma qualification exists.

Driving Licence — Delhi Police (Male only): Male candidates must hold a valid LMV driving licence (Motorcycle and Car) on the date of the Physical Endurance & Measurement Test. Male candidates without it are eligible only for SI in CAPFs.gds vacancy

Distance-learning degrees are accepted only where approved by the Distance Education Bureau, UGC, for the relevant period. Engineering, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy and other prohibited disciplines through ODL/Online mode are not accepted unless specifically permitted.

Sports certificates may be declared in the designated column of the application form, but no additional benefit or marks are given for them.

Application Fee

Fee once paid is non-refundable and non-adjustable. Applications where the fee is not received are marked ‘Incomplete’ and summarily rejected.

How to Apply

1. Complete One-Time Registration (OTR) at https://ssc.gov.in. OTR generated on the old site (ssc.nic.in) will not work on the new website.
2. Fill the online application form via the SSC website or the ‘mySSC’ mobile app (Google Play Store).
3. Opt for Aadhaar-Based Authentication during OTR. Applications submitted with Aadhaar authentication will not be rejected for photograph/signature standards, and such candidates need not carry photographs and photo-ID to the exam centre.
4. The form captures a real-time photograph through the camera — pre-existing photographs cannot be uploaded, and photographing an existing photo leads to summary rejection.
5. Upload a scanned signature in JPEG, 10–20 KB, about 6.0 cm × 2.0 cm.
6. Use Preview/Print to verify all fields before final submission.

Photo tips as per the notice: good lighting, plain background, camera at eye level, face fully inside the marked area, and no cap, mask or spectacles.

The examination has four mandatory stages: Paper-I → PST/PET → Paper-II → Detailed Medical Examination (DME).

Negative marking: 0.50 marks per wrong answer. The difficulty level of Paper-II is higher than Paper-I. Questions in Parts I, II and III of both papers are set in Hindi and English.

Bonus marks are added to the normalized score. The certificate must be held as on the closing date of applications.

Normalization and Answer Keys

If the exam is held in multiple shifts, marks will be normalized per the Commission’s notice dated 02.06.2025. Tentative answer keys are published after the exam; representations can be filed online only, at Rs.50 per question (non-refundable). There is no provision for re-evaluation or re-checking.

Weight: Corresponding to height, for all posts. There is no minimum chest requirement for female candidates.

Height/chest relaxation is granted only against a certificate in the format at Annexure-VIII from the competent authority of the district where the candidate ordinarily resides. Candidates declared unqualified in PST may appeal to the appellate authority present on the ground; that decision is final.

Physical Endurance Test (PET)

PST/PET carries no marks and is purely qualifying/eliminatory. Ex-Servicemen are exempt from PET but must clear PST, the written papers and the medical standards.

For female candidates: A self-declaration on pregnancy status must be submitted on reporting for PST/PET. A candidate found pregnant is declared temporarily unfit, her vacancy is kept reserved, and she is re-examined six weeks after confinement on producing a medical fitness certificate.

Medical Standards (DME/RME)

• Near vision: N6 (better eye), N9 (worse eye)
• Distant vision: 6/6 (better eye), 6/9 (worse eye) — without glasses or any corrective surgery
• In a right-handed person, the right eye is the better eye, and vice versa
• Candidates must not have knock knee, flat foot, varicose vein or squint, and must possess high colour vision
• Must be in good mental and bodily health, free of any defect likely to interfere with duty

Review Medical Examination (RME) is conducted in continuation of DME, preferably the next day. The decision of the Review Medical Board is final.

Obstacle Training

Finally selected Sub-Inspectors must clear seven obstacle events during training, failing which they may not be retained in the Force: Jumping over the Vertical Board, Holding the rope on jumping from the Board, Tarzan Swing, Jumping on the Horizontal Board, Parallel Rope, Monkey Crawl, and Vertical Rope.

Stage-wise process:

1. Paper-I → shortlisting for PST/PET. The Commission may fix different cut-offs for each part of Paper-I based on category-wise vacancies and candidate numbers.
2. PST/PET → qualifying only; those who clear it appear for Paper-II.
3. Paper-II → shortlisting for Medical Examination.
4. DME/RME + Document Verification → mandatory but qualifying.
5. Final selection and post allocation is made on the basis of Paper-II marks (including NCC bonus) and the post/force preferences exercised.

Once a candidate is allotted the first available preference as per merit, they will not be considered for any other option.

Tie-Breaking Rules

Where candidates score equal aggregate marks in Paper-I + Paper-II, the tie is resolved in this order:

1. Total marks in Paper-II
2. Marks in English in Paper-II
3. Date of birth — older candidate placed higher
4. Alphabetical order of names

Post Preferences

Preferences are collected through an Online Option Form after the Paper-II result is published. The post/force codes are:

Preferences once exercised are final and irreversible. Candidates who do not opt for a post will not be considered for it regardless of merit, and those who fail to submit preferences within the stipulated time will not be considered for any post in the final result.

Important caution: If a candidate is selected for a higher-preference post but then fails its medical, physical or educational requirements, the candidature is rejected outright — they will not be moved down to a lower preference.

Admission to the Examination

• Admission Certificates (AC) are issued online only; nothing is sent by post.
• Exam city and time table are uploaded on the concerned Regional Office website about 10 days before the exam. If details are not visible one week before, the candidate must contact the Regional Office immediately with proof of application.
• The AC download facility opens 2–3 days before the exam.
• Candidates who have not used Aadhaar-Based Authentication must report two hours before the exam with two recent passport-size colour photographs and an original valid photo-ID showing the date of birth as printed on the AC — Voter ID, Driving Licence, PAN Card, Passport, University/College/School ID, Government/PSU Employer ID, Ex-serviceman Discharge Book, or any other Central/State Government photo ID.
• If the photo ID lacks a date of birth, an additional original document (Matriculation certificate, board marksheet, birth certificate, category certificate) is required. Any DOB mismatch means the candidate will not be allowed to sit the exam.

Reservation Notes

• Reservation for SC/ST/OBC/EWS/ESM is determined and communicated by the CAPFs, MHA and Delhi Police — the Commission has no role in fixing vacancies or maintaining the reservation roster.
• For SI (Exe.) in Delhi Police-Male, 50% of the ESM quota is reserved for those who served in Special Forces/NSG (Special Action Group), or hold a “QI — Qualified Instructor” grading in the commando course, or are Navy/Air Force officers who worked in specialized commando-type units. Unfilled vacancies in this sub-quota go to other ESM candidates.
• OBC certificates issued by GNCTD for communities not in the Central OBC list are accepted only for the Delhi Police post; such candidates are treated as UR/EWS for all other posts.
• EWS candidates need an Income & Asset certificate valid for FY 2026-27 based on FY 2025-26 income (Annexure-VII).
• The Commission will not insist on an OBC certificate issued within the cut-off date; OBC candidature remains provisional pending verification by the Appointing Authority.
• Crucial date for category status, fee concession, reservation and age relaxation is the closing date of online applications.
• Age relaxation and ESM reservation are not available to sons, daughters or dependents of Ex-Servicemen.

Malpractice and Debarment

SSC conducts post-examination analysis using log analysis, photo and biometric verification, and CCTV review. Debarment periods run from 1 year to 7 years depending on the offence:

The Commission may additionally report matters to the police or investigating agencies.

Key Points to Remember

• Apply early — do not wait for 30 September, when the site carries heavy load. SSC will not be responsible for last-minute failures.
• Male candidates targeting Delhi Police must arrange a valid LMV driving licence before the PE&MT date.
• Vision requirements are strict: no spectacles, no corrective surgery — 6/6 and 6/9 uncorrected.
• Preferences are irreversible, and a failure at a higher-preference post ends the candidature entirely.
• Retain your application form, score/marks and answer response sheets for at least three years as per DoPT O.M. dated 21.06.2016.
• All posts other than SI in Delhi Police carry All India Service Liability.
