8. EXAMINATION SCHEME
- Selection to be made on a merit list of 400 total marks: 360 marks for the written examination (120 objective questions) plus 40 marks for interview
- Of the 120 written exam questions, 30 questions are on General Knowledge and 90 questions are subject-related
- Duration of written examination: 2 hours
- All questions are Multiple Choice (MCQ) with 4 options; correct bubble must be darkened with a black ball-point pen only
- +3 marks for each correct answer; -1 mark (negative marking) for wrong or multiple answers
- Tie-breaking order: written exam marks -> interview marks -> postgraduate percentage -> training qualification percentage -> older candidate ranked higher

- Final selection is based on combined written examination and interview marks (400 marks total)
- Shortlisted candidates will be informed of interview date, time and venue at least 10 days in advance via SMS/e-mail/newspaper/website
10. EXAM CENTRE
- Examination centres will be set up at district headquarters as required
- Candidates may be allotted any centre
- District of exam centre notified 10 days before exam; exact centre notified 3 days before exam via admit card download link on the website
11. RESERVATION
- Reservation for SC, ST, OBC and EWS categories as per vacancy break-up in the vacancy table
- Horizontal reservation as per applicable rules
- 10% reservation for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) under the U.P. Lok Seva (Reservation for EWS) Act, 2020
- Candidates outside Uttar Pradesh State are not eligible for reservation benefits under State reservation rules
12. GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
- Only candidates registered through OTR (One Time Registration) based Online Application System on www.upessc.up.gov.in are eligible; applications through any other medium will not be accepted
- Once submitted, category, sub-category, date of birth and gender cannot be changed – fill all details carefully
- Candidates must not have an incomplete application, missing photo/signature upload, or unsigned declaration, else the application will be rejected
- Application will not be accepted if date of birth is not mentioned or candidate’s age exceeds 62 years as on 01.07.2026
- If any declaration made in the application is later found false, the candidature will be cancelled and the candidate may be debarred from this and future selections
- Registration and application form must be filled in English language only
- Signature to be uploaded: JPG/JPEG, 10KB-200KB, 140×110 pixel resolution; Photograph: 30KB-300KB, 300-600 pixel resolution; Certificates: PDF, 50KB-500KB
- No waiting list will be maintained; the selection list against notified vacancies is final
